Woman's body found in Bog Walk gorge

Andre Williams, STAR Writer

The Bog Walk police have confirmed that the unidentified body of a woman was found in the Bog Walk gorge in St Catherine, yesterday afternoon.

Our news team obtained initial reports, which began to surface in the form of a BlackBerry broadcast alerting persons to be cautious when traversing the area, after passers-by stumbled on what appeared to be a body.

The message, apparently sent by a female read, "Woman body found round Bog Walk gorge wrapped in white sheet with her throat slash. What has the country gone to, women are treated like animals. When they have their way with us they kill us. She was raped ... all females, please be careful. My bbm ladies keep safe."

According to police reports, a passer-by saw what was thought to be a body wrapped in tarpaulin close to the Flat Bridge at about 2 p.m., and summoned the police.

THE STAR gathered that the body was fished from the water by fire and emergency officials attached to the Spanish Town Fire Brigade.

After the body was removed from the tarpaulin, investigators realised that it was found clad in blue jeans and a multicoloured blouse.

THE STAR gathered that the body is said to be that of a female about 18 years of age, of light complexion, measuring 5-feet-8-inches.

The Bog walk police advised our news team that investigations are continuing.
