The Old Harbour police in St Catherine have confirmed reports of a fatal accident along the Church Street main road last night that claimed the life of a female, THE STAR has learnt.

Information reaching our news team is that the police were called to the scene of an accident about 7 p.m.

THE STAR gathered that the accident occurred at Sweet Sap Lane on Church Street.

Our news team was informed that the name of the deceased was being withheld until the authorities made contact with her family.

An officer told THE STAR, "All we can say at this moment was there was a fatal accident that claimed the life of one female ... her age is unknown at this time".

A passer-by who stumbled on the accident told THE STAR, "I was driving along the main road and upon approaching the crash site, I noticed what appeared to be a body covered under a sheet on the pavement."
