Jamaican shot dead in Atlanta

A 76-year-old Jamaican man was reportedly shot and killed on Monday night during a home invasion at his residence in Atlanta, Georgia, onlineathens.com reports.

Dead is Edward Davidson, a retired electrician from Jefferson River Road, Atlanta.

It is reported that Davidson and his wife were asleep when someone kicked in the front door shortly before midnight.

Davidson got out of bed to confront one or more intruders when he was shot and killed, police said.

According to reports, Davidson's wife did not witness the shooting, but she looked out the window and saw two people fleeing, police said. She had called 911 at 11:57 p.m. to report a burglary in progress, that someone was kicking at the door.

The woman could only describe the suspects as black males, but investigators worked with her on Tuesday to come up with better descriptions.

Police would not say if a vehicle was involved or release other details of the burglary and murder.

Meanwhile, the police say Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to US$1,000 (J$91,745) for information that leads to the arrest of anyone responsible for Davidson's death.
