UTech, GC Foster battle for Intercol crown |

New champions will be crowned in this year's Intercol Men's Division One football competition, as former champions University of Technology and GC Foster College finished in the top two-preliminary round spots, following their final games.
Both teams will meet today in the final, at 3:30 pm, at the Water Commission field. The Spanish Town-based team, with 18 points, finished on top after after six wins and one defeat, while the University of Technology remained the only unbeaten team in the preliminary- round of the competition, finishing second with 17 points. Defending champions Defending champions the University of the West Indies could only manage a fifth- place finish, on seven points, after two wins and one draw from their seven games. Knockout champions Mico will finish third, as fourth- place team NCU ended with 11 points. The G.C. Foster College female team will also be in a final as they will compete against first-time finalist The Mico University College in the final slated for this Saturday at the University of Technology. Both teams completed their preliminary- round fixtures on Tuesday with victories. Playing at home, G.C. Foster College defeated Portmore Community College 2-0 to record their fifth consecutive win of the competition, to end on 15 points. |
