Star Tell Me Pastor

He doesn't want to marry me

Dear Pastor,

I am asking you for your advice. I am in a relationship with a man for over four years. But the problem I am having is that I would like to get married. But this man is saying that he does not want to get married because he does not want any woman to take away all that he has worked for. He says that we can continue to be together and not get married, but I am not comfortable with that.

it bothers me

We have a six months old son. I know this man loves me, but it bothers me when I think of the position that he has taken on marriage.

S.G., St. Ann

Dear S.G.,

You are so very unfortunate. You are having a relationship with a man who is a user of women. He wants a woman who can meet his sexual needs, and perhaps clean his house and wash his clothes, etc. But he does not want to have a lasting commitment with her. He is not a man that you can be proud of. He is very selfish and self-centred. He does not have your best interest at heart. However, if both of you are living together and continue to live together, you need not fear because the law of the land can take care of that for you. If both of you are living together for a certain number of years, you would be entitled under the law to receive part of his assets.
