$1 million grabbed from woman
Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Detectives from the St Catherine South are searching for persons who robbed a woman of $1.2 million in Old Harbour yesterday.

Reports are that about 11:30 a.m., the woman, who works at a wholesale along West Street, was on her way to make a deposit at a bank.

While heading towards the bank, she was pounced upon by two men who grabbed the bag with the money.

The woman sounded an alarm and the men ran and escaped in the busy town.

Meanwhile, operations officer for St Catherine South Division, Superintendent Clive Blair, said persons need to get the police to assist with escort.

"If you are doing any transaction of large sums of money, you can ask that the police assist you," Supt Blair said.

A number of business operators say they are worried as criminals are trying to take over the fast-growing town.

Recently, the church marched through the town as a show of solidarity in the fight against crime.
