Doc accused of rape gets bail

The 55-year-old medical doctor who has been accused of rape was granted $750,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Terrence Nunez of Hagley Park road and Kirkland Heights in St Andrew who has been charged with rape and grievous assault.

Nunez was charged on Monday by detectives assigned to the Centre of Investigation for Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.

He is to return to court on December 17 when the matter will be mentioned as the file is incomplete.

Attorney-at-law representing the accused, Roger Davis, told the court that his client is innocent.

The court also heard that Nunez and the 18-year-old complainant were involved in a relationship.

The police say the charges against Nunez stem from an incident on Sunday in which the doctor is alleged to have raped an 18-year-old woman who had gone to his office for medical treatment.

Reports say the doctor committed the offences while the woman was being examined.

The incident was later reported to the Half-Way Tree police.
