Enjoy the shopping extravaganza - Kennedy

Francis Kennedy

Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) President Francis Kennedy is encouraging all to join the 'Christmas in the City ... Shopping Extravaganza', which will run from Thursday, December 13 through to Saturday, December 15.

This three-day event will feature a range of bargains (discounts of up to 70 per cent) at participating stores, as well as special treats and surprises at St William Grant Park. Bring the children to the Kiddies Village in the park for face painting, rides, etc., as well as on-site giveaways, food and, of course, shopping! There will be live entertainment at the park tomorrow night.

In encouraging the business and client communities to take part in the extravaganza, the JCC president points out that similar special events in the past have been among the best things to happen to the city since the 1970s. Past years' staging of the event has been a great success for store operators, while customers have attested to a marked improvement to the downtown Kingston shopping experience. He suggested that the staging of the extravaganza and similar activities fit comfortably into the long-term vision of transforming the area into a 24/7 locale offering the best in commerce, tourism, entertainment, and other services - interspersed with residential facilities appropriate for a wide range of income levels.

The transformation may have been long in coming, he noted, but the Chamber is committed to doing its part to making downtown Kingston a must-see, must-experience location for all who visit Jamaica.
