Man gets six months for gyrating on woman's buttocks

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A man who gyrated on a woman's buttocks while she was a passenger on a public passenger vehicle was sentenced to six months' hard labour in court yesterday.

Erwine Welsh, a 40-year-old labourer, of Spanish Town, St Catherine, pleaded guilty in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green then sentenced him to six months' hard labour.

Allegations are that on December 3 about 7:40 p.m., the accused was a passenger on a Jamaica Urban Transit Company bus.

Upon reaching a section of the Nelson Mandela Highway, the complainant felt strange movements on her rear.

She observed that Welsh was wining on her and his 'private' out of his pants.

The woman screamed and a male passenger came to her assistance.

Welsh was later taken to the Ferry Police Station where he was charged by Constable Sophia Stamp with indecent assault.
