Accused on assault rap gets bail extension

A man who used a baseball bat to injure a woman is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court for trial on February 21, after he pleaded not guilty.

The accused man, Ivanhoe Francis, from a Corporate Area address has been charged with unlawful wounding. He was ordered to give his fingerprints to the police by Senior Resident Magistrate Georgianna Fraser.

In court, it was revealed that Francis and the complainant became involved in an altercation at which point he allegedly took a baseball bat and hit her all over her body causing a wound.

Francis' bail was subsequently extended to return to court in late February.
