'Chucky' gunned down in Lakes Pen

The police in St Catherine said the man who was shot dead by gunmen in Lakes Pen in the parish yesterday was warned on several occasions to leave the community.

The dead man has been identified as Rohan 'Chucky' Thompson, a 52-year-old businessman from the community.

"We have warned him after he was threatened that he needs to move out of the area, however, he chose to stay, saying that he was not leaving as he was born there," an investigator revealed.

Reports are that about 1:30 p.m., residents heard explosions and called the Spanish Town police. The police responded and upon their arrival, they found that three persons were shot and injured.

It was revealed that a number of casings including M16 and 9mm, were discovered on the scene.

They were rushed to the hospital where Thompson succumbed to his injuries while the others were hospitalised.

The rumours spread rapidly that another man had died, but it was later revealed that there was only one death.

Meanwhile, investigation into the matter is being undertaken by members of the St Catherine Major Investigation Task Force.
