man accused of having cellphone in lock-up pleads not guilty

A man accused of having a cell phone in his possession while in lock-up was brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer to charges.

Charged with introducing contraband in a lock-up is Omar Campbell.

He plead not guilty to the charge.

The court was told that during a search of a cell at the Central lock-up a Samsung cellular phone was found.

Campbell told RM Lorna Shelly-Williams that he was not the owner of the cellphone.

He expressed, "Your honour, eight of us in the cell and dem say a my phone cause mi deh deh the longest... everybody come deh come see me."

RM Shelly-Williams ordered that he be remanded in custody until January 21, when the matter will resume at trial.
