Accused involved in SUV disappearance case remanded

Jermaine Dixon, the man in the controversial case involving the disappearance of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) from the Office of the Commissioner of Police, was further remanded in court yesterday.

Dixon, who appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, is to make another appearance on January 10, when the matter will be mentioned as the file is still incomplete.

The court was told that further statements are to be submitted on or before December 28.

Dixon, from Harbour View, Kingston, was convicted on November 27, 2007 for the theft of a Toyota Harrier SUV.

The court heard that the SUV was recovered on March 31, 2009 and placed in storage at the Office of the Commissioner of Police.

However, it is alleged that on June 6, Dixon was stopped by the police on Red Hills Road, Kingston 19, and found with the said SUV.

Dixon faces charges of simple larceny; larceny of motor vehicle; receiving stolen property; and possession of criminal property.

He also faces charges of conspiracy to commit larceny; three counts of forgery and three counts of possession of forged documents.

Dixon is being represented by attorney at-law, C.J. Mitchell.
