Three to answer to ganja charges |

|
Three men who were hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday to answer to charges of possession of ganja will return on December 21, at which point bail applications will be expected to continue into the matter. The men are taxi operator Calvin Henry, 48, of a Waltham Park Road address, salesman Laurie Henry, 48, and mechanic Ian Williams. Both Henrys have been charged with taking steps to export, possession of, trafficking and conspiracy to export ganja. Williams, along with these charges, has also been slapped with illegal possession of firearm. It is reported that on August 5 about 9:15 a.m., the narcotics police acting on information and armed with warrants went to premises on Waltham Park Road. There, the police found an Isuzu truck with the back opened where the accused man Williams was seen in the truck with a drill. It is alleged that Williams had been creating false compartments in the truck. It is also being alleged that both Henrys had been seen observing Williams in the truck. The police reportedly found approximately 231 bags of ganja weighing 1,199 pounds. Later in the day, about 4:30 p.m., the police went to a Mona premises where Williams was living and found a 2.9 mm magazine and a small box with firearm compartments in a chest of drawers along with other paraphernalia. Laurie Henry's premises was also searched, where an assortment of cell phones were confiscated and taken to the forensics lab for analysis. All three men return to court today. |
