A St Catherine woman was hospitalised after she was robbed of a gold chain yesterday.

The police said the man grabbed the gold chain from the woman's neck and escaped on foot. Having being overwhelmed by her ordeal, the woman reportedly fainted.

The police said she was taken to hospital where The Star learned she was admitted.

A senior police personnel at the Spanish Town Police Station, told The Star that people are being advised to be careful with their jewellery and personal possessions.

The advice comes as criminal activities are heightened at this time of year.

The police said that there is a spike in the theft of cellular phones and other valuable items throughout Spanish Town and its environs.
