Still a Perfect Neighbour

CHAMPION trainer Wayne DaCosta's PERFECT NEIGHBOUR gets the perfect trip in Wednesday's Supreme Ventures Limited Jamaica Two-Year-Old Stakes to prove his Pick-3 Super Challenge Trophy was no fluke.

The least fancied of DaCosta's trio who went to post in the November 28 Pick-3 Super Challenge, PEREFECT NEIGHBOUR motored from next to last at the top of the lane to sweep past stablemates ROYAL VIBES and HOVER CRAFT close home in the 1400-metre event.

Though benefitting from apprentice Orlando Foster's eight-pound claim on last, PEREFECT NEIGHBOUR definitely stays better than both and should have no problems mowing down rivals with 57.0 kilos going a mile.

The champion trainer said PEREFECT NEIGHBOUR has definitely looked improved at exercise and is raring to go.

"They're working just as well as they were for the Pick-3. PERFECT NEIGHBOUR clocked 1:14.1 and ROYAL VIBES 1:14.0. Both were comfortable in their work," DaCosta told STAR Sports after watching the trio gallop six furlongs in their last speed work last week Wednesday morning.

HOVER CRAFT posted 1:15.1 for his spin and will again be partnered by Panamanian Dick Cardenas whereas Dane Nelson is back aboard ROYAL VIBES.

Handed the biggest ride of his almost four-month-old career, apprentice Foster's job shouldn't be all that tough with PERFECT NEIGHBOUR drawn mid-pack at post-position nine in the 14-horse field.

PEREFECT NEIGHBOUR has staying pedigree. His dam, DESPERATEHOUSEWIFE, was sired by Ghost Ransom, who also sired the 2006 Jamaica Derby winner, RANSOM MAN.

With Cash Pot Trophy winner UNCLE TAF definitely out of the big $4.25m Boxing Day showdown, the horse on every railbird's lips is Richard Azan's PISCEAN ROCKET.

Azan's runner cruised to an easy victory on his November 28 debut, clocking 1:00.4 in a five-and-a-length victory in the 1000-metre Royal Lancaster Trophy.

PISCEAN ROCKET returned to gallop seven furlongs with stablemate DOC HOLIDAY last Friday morning, clocking 1:30.0.

The railbirds claim PISCEAN ROCKET paced the work and stopped their watches in 1:14.0 and change for six furlongs.

However, the track seemed to have been running a bit fast that afternoon as non-winner-of-two CONCRETE JUNGLE also posted a fast time, 1:00.3, and has not been able to reproduce that performance in two outings since.

Experience and a quick pace should be PISCEAN ROCKET's undoing, just one race under his girth and tackling a mile on his second outing, stepping up from five furlongs round.

In addition, Azan's runner is suspect at the distance as her dam, STARRY EYES, who never got an inch over six furlongs, winning her only race at five and a half.

DOC HOLIDAY, with whom PISCEAN ROCKET has been working, is also being touted. However, his winning time at seven furlongs against maidens, 1:28.3 on November 14, paled in comparison to PEREFECT NEIGHBOUR's 1:27.2 when beating winners in the Pick-3 Super Challenge 10 days later.
