injured during tussle with thug

A home-made handgun was handed over to the Porus police in Manchester by a woman who managed to disarm a man who attacked her as she walked home in Watermount district in the parish on Thursday.

Information received is that about 5:45 p.m., the woman was walking along a dirt road in the community when she was pounced upon by the man, who allegedly demanded that she handed over her handbag.

It is reported that the woman refused, and during a subsequent tussle, managed to disarm the robber.

The robber, however, reportedly used a knife to inflict wounds to her hands and stomach, and escaped with her bag.

She was assisted to hospital by the police, where she was admitted.

Her injuries are reportedly not considered to be life-threatening.

The Porus police are continuing their search for the culprit.
