60-y-o accused robber remanded

A 60-year-old man who has been accused of robbing an elderly woman's handbag was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Alfred Henry, who has been charged with robbery with aggravation, is to return to court on January 7, as the file is incomplete.

Allegations are that on March 30, about 5:30 p.m., the complainant was at her workplace when she was told by the security officer that she had a visitor.

The court heard that the female complainant left her workplace with the accused, however, she later reported to the police that she was robbed of her handbag with its contents.

It is alleged that the accused pointed a sharp object at the woman's side and demanded that she handed over her handbag, which contained her identification cards, a Nokia cellular phone and $8,000.

It is reported that the woman managed to escape from Henry and made a report to the Papine police.

On December 19, Henry was pointed out by the complainant and he was arrested.
