Contractor Downsound Records' promotions guru Sean 'Contractor' Edwards said he was extremely pleased with the outcome of Sting 2012 held on Boxing Day last year at Jam World in Portmore, St Catherine. As promised Sting, the biggest one-night event in dancehall worldwide lived up to its billing as it provided fans with its usual controversial yet entertaining episodes. Contractor, who is Downsound Records' marketing director, began his usually effective marketing campaign back in October with an online campaign, which resulted in Sting being one of the hottest topics on several social media such as Facebook and Twitter. key decisions The late inclusion of Busy Signal and male dancehall artiste of the year-elect Konshens were key decisions, and one could only think that it was a strategic move by Contractor and his bosses Joe Bogdanovich and Isaiah Laing of Supreme Promotions. Also notable was an incident-free Sting despite an early threat when former Gaza artistes Popcaan and Ryno got in a brief physical confrontation onstage. Contractor, who arrived at the venue as early as 8 p.m. via a first- class Knutsford Express transportation, never left until the event finished late into the next morning. During this, the veteran music consultant and also reggae recording artiste, said he was impressed with flow of proceedings as everything went perfectly according to plan. A much-publicised tag-team clash between KipRich and Ninja Man vs Merciless and Tony Matterhorn never failed to spark the mounting entertainment promoted prior to the event. There were several other fantastic performances from the likes of Sizzla Kalonji, Busy Signal, I-Octane and many others. |
