Cops searching for grocery shop robbers

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Police in St Catherine are searching for two men who robbed a grocery shop and bar in Lluidasvale of more than $16,000 last Thursday night.

Reports are that about 10:30 p.m., patrons were enjoying a game of dominoes when the robbers entered posing as genuine customers.

They are said to have ordered two bottles of beer and two bottles of tonic wine.

Both then brandished handguns and demanded the day's sale from the shopkeeper.

It was then that the men were given $14,000 in notes and over $2,000 in coins. They then escaped in a waiting car which was parked some distance away.

A report was made at the Shady Grove Police Station.

Residents of the area told The Star that migrant criminals coming into the community are a cause for concern.
