Labourer charged with murder offered bail

A 26-year-old man charged with murder, after he reportedly tried to defend himself, was offered $150,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

He is Shea Mullings, labourer of a Kingston address.

The court heard that on December 27, both men were in the Mount Charles district of Mavis Bank when the accused used a piece of wood to hit the now deceased man in the head causing him to collapse. While on the ground, several blows were allegedly rained upon him. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

C.J. Mitchell, the attorney representing the man, told the court that Mullings was merely defending himself as the deceased inflicted wounds to Mullings' face and chest.

Mullings is to return to court on February 19.
