27-y-o pleads guilty to embezzlement

A 27-year-old woman who pleaded guilty to embezzlement was spared a custodial sentence when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

She is Kishana Peart-Harrison.

Peart-Harrison was sentenced to 12 months suspended for three years by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey.

Allegations are that the accused, who was employed to a security company as a collections supervisor, didn't hand over monies that she had collected for the company.

The court heard that over $200,000 was collected by the accused late last year that was not handed over to the company.

The matter was reported to the police, and the accused was subsequently arrested and charged.
