Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A High Court judge has echoed the call for more persons to serve as jurors in the administration of justice.

This call came from presiding judge in the Hillary session of the St Catherine Circuit, Justice Evan Brown.

He told the jurors at the opening Friday that their input is very important if justice is to be served.

"You are a very important part of the system and you are needed to make things proceed smoothly, " Justice Brown said.

The session opened with 104 cases, 96 of which were traversed from the last circuit.

It was noted that sexual offences dominated the roster with 56 cases to be tried.

The cases include buggery, rape, having sex with a person under the age of 16 and other sexual offences.

Justice brown will be assisted by Crown Counsels Tracey Johnson and Tracey Palmer from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

There was a parade of the Jamaica Constabulary Force during the opening.
