Release for Daley - Reggae Boy midfielder out of contract after termination of Preston deal

Keammar Daley

Jamaican international Keammar Daley has seen a nightmare spell at English League One team Preston North End finally at an end after both parties agreed to a cancellation of contract by mutual consent.

Daley signed a two-year contract with the Lily Whites from local premier league team Tivoli Gardens, during the 2011 summer transfer window and was set to be out of a contract in the upcoming summer, but it seems that both player and club thought it prudent to not wait until then.

no uncertain terms

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has really failed to find his footing on English soil and has been, in truth, on the third-tier club's transfer list since the start of the season. After continuing to struggle for playing time, the diminutive player, who was one of eight players to not be allowed to train with the first team squad during the preseason, was told in no uncertain terms that he was not a part of the new manager's plans. The 24-year-old did enough to impress Scottish club St Johnstone's manager Steve Lomas during a trial stint, but the clubs failed to reach an agreement.

Daley's last first team appearance was as a second-half substitute at Rochdale a little over a year ago.

In total, the midfielder went on to make just eight appearances during his career at the club, managing to find the back of the net once.

A message on the club's official website (www.pnefc.ne) confirmed that the player's contract had been terminated but went on to wish him well for the future.

"His contract is cancelled with immediate effect and he leaves the club with its thanks and best wishes for his future career," the statement read.

Daley, who has also failed to cement a steady place in the national squad in recent months, last featured for the team in last month's unsuccessful title defence of the Caribbean Cup.
