The birthday party of recording artiste Konshens was a star-studded event last Friday. Hosted at The Quad in New Kingston, the only thing missing was space for the patrons.

THE STAR arrived at the venue at midnight and standing beside the Smirnoff-branded gate was a long line of patrons eager to get involved in the activities planned for the night.

After almost an hour of waiting in the long line, THE STAR finally got access to the event minutes to 1 a.m. During that time, the DJ was playing hardcore dancehall songs like Nah Shot A Soul by Vybz Kartel and Nuh Stick by Bounty Killer and other songs on the Anger Management rhythm like Sizzla's No Way and Bling Dawg's Nuh Care Who You Be.

Some elegantly dressed females were seen catering to some fans who wanted to sample Konshens' birthday cake. The cake were well decorated with the words Stop Sign, which is also the name of one of Konshens' popular singles.

The third floor of The Quad delivered a hype vibe with songs like Gyal A Wah Mi Duh and Nah Let Go, among others by Vybz Kartel. It was like a Vybz Kartel affair and the patrons seemed to be loving every bit of the selections.

Songs like Rise Di K by Black Ryno and My Place by Vybz Kartel also got roaring responses.

"Who sey Gaza forever," the DJ shouted and patrons echoed their loyalty by beating bottles on the tables.

Konshens appeared at minutes to 2 a.m. to huge applause. The DJ also began to spice up things with whining songs like Bend Over by Mavado

Celebrities who were at the event included Shaggy, Usain Bolt, Jordan of Chimney Records, singer Raine Seville, The Alliance and close friend of Konshens, Romeich, who was also a part of the organising team.

At minutes after 2 a.m, songs from the birthday artiste like Tek Time Nuh had patrons in full dancing mode.

ZJ Electra later delivered a strong set comprising hip hop and dancehall selections. Songs like Forever Young by Jay Z and Pick The World Up by Lil Wayne ignited the club.

Up-and-coming DJ Flabba Dabba took over following Electra's electrifying set and represented for the predominantly female audience.

"All di girls who love Konshens scream," he said and played Jerimiah's Birthday Sex. "Mi a slow dung di whine," he said and proceeded to play some slower songs from the R&B genre. The ladies were instantly pulled in and they sang each song while posing with their cups in the air.

The event was incident free and minutes after 3 a.m. patrons were still having quite a bit of fun. The police were kept busy on the outskirts of the club directing the long flow of traffic.
