Frazsier's Whip shine

Andrew Edwards - File

Frazsier's Whip of St Catherine continued their good form in the South Central Confed Super League, turning back defending champions New Green of Manchester 2-0 at the Spanish Town Prison Oval on Sunday.

Junior Salmon and Sanjay Williams were the scorers, but they owed their good fortune to telling dribbles from their leading goalscorer, Kemar Beckford. The win was Frazsier's Whip's fourth consecutive, and New Green's first loss of the new season. With just one game to end the first half of the competition, Frazsier's Whip are sitting pretty in Zone A with 12 points, ahead of New Green, nine, Royal Lakes, six, Meadows, four, and debutants Four Paths, two, and Super Action, on a point.

Appleton lead Zone B following their 2-0 home win over Newlands of St Catherine. Marlon Fletcher got both goals to carry his season tally to seven. It is Appleton's second stint in the league, having lasted just one season, a few years ago. Their coach, Andrew Edwards, believes they have now found their feet at this level.

"There is still some work to do, but we are making good progress in a way that we feel some level of pride," he told Star Sports yesterday.

Appleton have 10 points from four games, and included in their success so far is a 4-0 away win over Rivoli, the league's most experienced team. Bodles of St Catherine are next, with eight points, after handing Spartan of Clarendon a 3-0 defeat. Rivoli, who are third on six points have a good chance of overtaking Bodles when they travel to Kirkvine today to play struggling Kendal of Manchester.

In other results from the weekend's fourth round, Royal Lakes continued the miserable run of Super Action 4-0, while Meadows and Four Paths battled to a 1-1 draw.
