Deejay seeks ultimate start

The Ultimate - file

Dancehall artiste 'The Ultimate' has had a stop-start experience in music since he decided to take his craft serious with his breakthrough single 'I Wish' in 2009.

The singjay, who lives in Portmore, St Catherine, has caught the attention of the streets, earning him respect and support.

'The Ultimate', Neil McFarlane, has always been seen as a prolific lyricist but, struggled to garner some form of traction.

With the releases of Over And Over and Dem Caah Duh Mi Nuttn, the often quiet-going artiste has seen an increase in public attention, much to his delight, but, more important, his expectations.

"Every day I expect to see people coming to me telling me how much they feel about the single (Over and Over). People love it and have expressed their admiration for my work, urging me to continue," he said.

Over And Over, produced by independent label Black Q Records, is a neatly constructed criticism of bias clouding the local music industry. It also demonstrates a high level of writing skills, great composition and an insatiable passion for success.

Caah Do Mi Nuttn, a track produced by Mr G, is generating equal amount of public attention. Also, there's a music video, directed by Fiwi Films, already out and creating a buzz on local stations.

The artiste holds down a 9-5 at AD Hobbins gas station.
