Calabar students rushed to hospital after brawl
Andre Williams, STAR Writer

Two Calabar students were rushed to hospital yesterday following a brawl at the Half-Way Tree Transport Centre.

Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that the boys were injured during a fracas allegedly between them and students of Jamaica College.

Police said security personnel quickly broke up the altercation and summoned authorities.

Head of the St Andrew Central police, Senior Superintendent Fitz Bailey, said a suspect is in custody.

He said, "What we know is that two students were stabbed and they were taken to the hospital and released."

Yesterday's incident follows another on Tuesday at the Institute of Academic Excellence on Half-Way Tree Road, in which a student was killed. .

"There is no relation to the fatal stabbing as the boys are not from the same school, so we don't consider it a trend. It's getting close to Boys Champs, so we will be monitoring the situation between rival schools," SSP Bailey said.
