A wind of change is now propelling over the Jamaican reggae scene as Patrick Buddo is taking the local reggae scene by storm. His meteoric rise is just a shade shy of stardom status, and it is a true testament to the prevailing influence he is now having on the local scene. He is stylistically exceptional and possesses the intuition to select and successfully resurrect sometimes forgotten hits. Add this to his unique style and flair, he is able to successfully appeal to a wide cross section of music lovers. In 2008, he covered Junior Byles' 1970's hit Fade Away and it was an instant radio hit. It was voted Top Song on Roots 96.I FM's weekly new artiste feature called What's The Verdict on July 20 of that same year. It got heavy rotation on radio stations locally, which resulted in bookings on shows such as Stars R US, Giants of the 80's, Mini, Miss Roots FM Talent Pageant, Tribute to Gregory Isaacs and other engagements. After taking a self-imposed hiatus, Patrick Buddo returned with a bang in 2012. He did an original called Want you in My Life, covered another Junior Byles classic Curly Locks and an Alton Ellis hit Breaking Up, which were all winners on What's the Verdict and are now receiving heavy rotation on radio stations islandwide. Curly Locks was voted What's the Verdict song of the year for 2012 with Breaking Up placing fourth. The video for Curly Locks is currently receiving heavy rotation on television stations locally and has been climbing the charts locally and in New York and Miami. It is being distributed by Tads Records. Another of his songs, Fade Away, is on the Jamaican 50 compilation Then and Now CD, which at one point went to number three on the album chart. The video for Breaking Up is out and is also receiving heavy rotation on cable stations and via the Internet. His latest release is another cover version of a Paragons hit
