Man held for stolen phone

A St Catherine man was arrested and charged with robbery after he was held with a cellular phone, which was stolen.

He is Jermaine Saunders, cellular phone technician of Spanish Town, St Catherine. The Star was told that on January 2, three complainants were at their home at Bunny Blue Flag Boulevard, Lauriston, St Catherine, when they were pounced upon by five persons including the technician.

The complainants were beaten and robbed of six cellular phones and items of jewellery by the robbers who were armed with knives and stones.

In addition to the cellular phones, they were robbed of $72,000.

Saunders was charged after he attended the Spanish Town Police Station. He was searched and one of the stolen phones was found in his possession.

He was arrested and charged by Detective Constable Dale Lopez of the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch.
