Reggae artiste/producer/actor Spragga Benz, is extending the reach of The Carlisle Foundation to benefit more institutions. The foundation recently handed over four computers to Haile Selassie High School and will hand over another computer, along with relevant textbooks to St Michael's Primary this week. Jerome Wright, brother of Spragga Benz, supporting education is a worthy cause. "After Spragga Benz son died, we decided that we would give back to education, because he had nine subjects at the time of his death. So we wanted to pay attention to the importance of education and schooling. So anything we made from stage shows we would give back some to the schools," Wright said. Wright disclosed that the foundation is spreading to assist a number of schools. The foundation also provides lunch vouchers for the needy. "It has been over seven years now, and we try to spread it to a lot of schools. We started in the east, but now we are looking to help schools in the west and south as well. We even have vouchers. In one case, we partnered with a radio station and people could call in and request vouchers for students who wanted financial assistance. But now we are doing everything through the schools," Wright said. Spragga Benz is producing his reggae album and is expected to be featured on a new international collaboration with Maybach Music Group, operated by American Rapper Rick Ross. "For 2013, we are working hard on the music and we will try to help as much schools as possible. We will also host seminars at some schools on the importance of peace. We want to play a role in curtailing crime and violence," Wright told Star entertainment. |
