Accused BlackBerry thief remanded |

|
An alleged larcenist who reportedly stole a man's BlackBerry cellphone from him and hid in a building to avoid capture was remanded in The Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday until February 5. Charged with larceny from the person is Kevin Mattis. However, Mattis maintained his innocence and told Resident Magistrate Lorna Shelly-Williams that he was ignorant of the crime. According to the Crown, on the day of the incident, the complainant snatched the smartphone from the complainant, and went in hiding in a nearby building. However, the complainant who is a licensed firearm holder, located Mattis and held him at gunpoint until the police arrived to accost him. |
