Man on assault rap ordered to pay, apologise

A payment of $5,000 and an apology was the judgment handed down by Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey in a matter involving a man who shoved another man, causing him to fall, which resulted in him sustaining cuts and bruises to his face.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Clive Sullivan.

The court heard that on December 23, the complainant came to the home of the accused man and demanded that an extension cord, which he had borrowed, be returned to him.

The complainant came with a bottle and threw at Sullivan who demanded that the complainant leave his yard.

Sullivan rushed out, a fight ensued, resulting in the complainant falling to his face.

The following day, the complainant returned with the police, who charged Sullivan. After giving Sullivan a stern reprimand, Senior Resident Magistrate Pusey ordered that he shake the complainant's hand and apologise.
