Pepper farmer facing ganja charges

A man who claims he is a pepper farmer was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer to charges relating to ganja that was found at his home.

Charged with possession of ganja is Micheal White of a Widcombe Road address in Kingston.

He entered a not guilty plea.

The court was told that police went to White's house on November 14, and after a search was carried out, 378 pounds (187 kilograms) of ganja was found stashed throughout the dwelling.

White was not at home at the time, however, his alleged girlfriend who was present was taken into custody and charged.

The court was told that since then, White has been eluding the police until January 13th when he was held at the said location with 0.005kg of ganja in his possession.

White is to return to court on January 29 for the matter to be mentioned.

He was remanded in custody.
