Unruly students block road
Andre Williams, STAR Writer

A group of unruly students who were allegedly locked out of school, some for non-payment of tuition, and others because they were late, blocked the road in front their school using makeshift barriers yesterday.

Information reaching our news team is that the angry students who were barred from entering the school compound for varying reasons used barriers to block the road, which soon after caught the attention of the police.

THE STAR understands that the police subsequently intervened, and the misbehaving students were ushered off to the nearby station.

The group of students, which included one female, were later spotted being escorted on foot by police personnel to the Cross Roads Police Station via the Half-Way Tree Road entrance to the Cross Roads Market.

Curious onlookers watched as the group of about eight students walked in a line holding each other in the pants waist from the back with one hand, while the other hand was placed on the head.

When THE STAR contacted the Cross Roads police, an officer at the station told our news team that he is not advised to speak to the media, and directed the news team to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN).

When the news team spoke with the CCN, they confirmed that the students were brought to the Cross Roads Police Station, then later released into the care of their parents.

Our news team was told that no arrest was made, the CCN representative disclosed, "None of the students were arrested. They were given a stern warning."

THE STAR tried without success to speak with the school principal, as THE STAR was told that he was at lunch, and up to news time, despite leaving messages, the calls were not returned.
