Man fined for taking photos of witnesses

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A St Catherine man who took pictures of witnesses and the policeman in his case was fined $15,000 or 90 days on Tuesday.

He is Lloyd McDonald of Old Harbour, St Catherine.

McDonald's attorney Courtney Maxwell said his client was naive, but had no ill intention nor sought to intimidate anyone.

"He wanted to show me the photos and had nothing else on his mind. We are begging a non-custodial sentence," Maxwell said.

Resident Magistrate Vaughn Smith said McDonald already had one case before the court and was stupid in his behaviour.

McDonald was fined $5,000 or 30 days for disorderly conduct, $5,000 or 30 days for assault and $5,000 or 30 days for resisting arrest.

Allegations say McDonald, charged with wounding, had just left the court when he took out his phone and took pictures of the investigating officer and witnesses.

The policeman demanded the camera and he refused. He reportedly kicked the policeman's feet several times and continued to behaved boisterously.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assaulting the police.
