22-y-o fined for taking bicycle from store

A man who was caught on a surveillance camera stealing a bicycle from a store was sentenced in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Charged with simple larceny is 22-year-old Sherlando Hewitt. He was fined $20,000 or six months in prison.

"When di police did hold on to me, I did tell him dat I would pay back for di bicycle, but, your honour, I will never let this happen again," Hewitt, who pleaded guilty, told senior Resident Magistrate (RM) Judith Pusey.

The RM, who warned Hewitt against getting into any future trouble said, "If you thief and come back in here again, there will be no more chance". She then imposed the fine on the accused.
