Reggae/dancehall artiste I-Octane is still on a high from his recent performance at the Youth View Awards (YVAs), held on Saturday (February 2) at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

Not only did I-Octane walk away with two important awards on the night, winning for Favourite Cultural Artiste of the Year (ahead of the likes of Damian Marley and Tarrus Riley), and also Celebrity Role Model of the Year in which he tied with sprint champion Usain Bolt, but I-Octane also delivered a smashing performance that will be remembered for weeks after the YVAs have concluded.

I-Octane was introduced on stage by host Bambino. He entered with a pulley saying "mi just come from foreign and mi miss mi woman" as he entered his bedroom and turned on the light, only to find his woman in bed with another man. He shouted, "Jesus Christ, woiii ... mi chest plate a bun mi," before delivering his recent hit single, Gyal A Gimmi Bun.

As soon as he was getting ready to perform his second song, two females and a male (all actors) could be seen on the opposite side of the stage shouting, "a wah gwan ova Octane yaaad" to which I-Octane replied, "dem a watch me an mi nah watch dem". Bounty Killer then appeared on stage and sang the hit song Badmind Dem A Pree along with I-Octane which inevitably caused frenzy in the audience.

For Octane's third song, four female dancers (from Dance JA) acted out a party scene onstage as he sang his 2012 summer anthem Love Di Vibes which was well received. As the dancers exited the stage he sang L.O.V.E Y.O.U.

I-Octane was then joined on stage by two male actors, one of whom appeared to be selling peanuts and banana chips, while the other had a windshield cleaner pretending to be cleaning a car glass as he closed his set with My Story. I-Octane's set was complete in five minutes.

For I-Octane, there was only one way to describe his 2013 YVA performance, as he simply said, "Siiiiiiccccckkkk!"

I-Octane was also elated about winning two awards on the night, and said he was thankful that the youths appreciated positive music. "It feels great to know that mi win the younger generation, to see that the youths of tomorrow into positive vibration. A di youths dem vote fi I suh it feels good to know that the I do a great job," he said.

And as it related to sharing an award with the fastest man on earth, Octane said "this was a big surprise to me." But, "this prove say people, especially the fans, have more love for me than mi think. People normally put artistes in a box, because they don't really see the artiste as a regular person. Suh to see people looking on me as a role model mek di I feel good. It's a great accomplishment to share this award with Usain Bolt."

Other outstanding performances at the YVAs came from the likes of One Third who delivered a wonderful tribute to Bob Marley, and RDX who closed the show.
