Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A student of Bog Walk High is in police custody while another student from Josť Marti Technical High School is dead following his intervention in a robbery yesterday.

He is identified as Tafarel Harvey of Bog Walk, St Catherine.

Reports from the Bog Walk police are that about 3 p.m., the deceased was stabbed by the fourth former after he intervened in a dispute. It is reported that he went to the assistance of someone being robbed when the incident occurred.

He was rushed to the Linstead Hospital where he was admitted in a critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.

The Bog Walk Criminal Investigation Branch is conducting a probe in the matter.

This is the second stabbing incident where a high school student has been killed since the start of the year.

The other occurred in St Ann's Bay, St Ann, where a student of Ocho Rios was stabbed to death.

Meanwhile, calls to the school proved futile as the phones rang without answer.

As the news spread, persons expressed shock and sadness about the situation.

"This is very sad. But the truth is, these students need God. They don't even like devotion, that is why we are now doing the "Lean On Me" school devotion project," JFK Martin, a preacher who has conducted Christian programmes in school said.

He said the programme is to bring children closer to God through prayer and worship to ease the violence.
