High energy at Pon de Spot Fridayz |
|||||
- Anthony Minott photo "Jah know seh the party nice".... was just one of many comments expressing how patrons felt as they partied at the first staging of Pon de Spot Fridayz, on Headley Road, in Drewsland last Friday. Some females were ready and willing to 'dash out' when tunes such as Kartel and Dj Stylish's combination of Are You Ready blared from the Crystal Sound system. Japanese dancer Yuka was in her element and was not shy to show her athleticism and flexibility when DJ Ikel Marvellous singled her out in the crowd. The selectors repeatedly spoke of the joy of returning Drewsland to a party city and a way of building the love and unity in the community. The crowd was in for a treat as lightweight dancer Elmo from Reconnection Dancers used guile and agility to attack the females in the air, much to the delight of the crowd which were influenced by the liquor on sale and the musical prowess of disc jocks, Ikel Marvellous, DJ Carrot, Jet Lee, DJ Vaz, DJ Shrimpy and DJ Flavour Wayne. "It was really a good look, it's the first night and is crazy shellings", one satisfied patron told The STAR. The event was endorsed by the Container Family, including Container Boss, Don Ian, who was in attendance. Also in attendance were Dancehall Queen 2012, Sher and Rene Six-thirty, and the Pon Di Spot crew. The next edition will be on February 22, with special guest selector, Fire Links.
