Patrick Buddo

Reggae singer Patrick Buddo recently scored his first top- 10 hit with a cover of Junior Byles' reggae classic, Curly Locks.

The single that was released on his Romero's imprint and which was named after his son, is currently sitting in the number-two spot on the Jamaica Music Countdown Top 25 Reggae Singles Chart.

"I've always loved this song and from I was a little boy growing up, Junior Byles was one of my favourite singers. His vocal style is unique and he sings such wonderful melodies. I really admire and respect him a lot, so it's a great joy for me to achieve success with this song because this success is not just for me but also for the great man who originated Curly Locks, said the artiste".

According to Buddo, Curly Locks has paved the way for him to take his career all the way to the top, and if his appearance on the first night of the recently held Rebel Salute Festival is anything to go by, he's not too far away from realizing that ambition.

"I know for a fact that Curly Locks has set me on a path to musical success, and I can't stop now. My good friend Little John invited me to share the stage with him at Rebel Salute and when I performed Curly Locks, the crowd went wild. the forwards I received were huge, the people really loved my performance, and it was a wonderful experience."

While Patrick Buddo is happy about the success of Curly Locks, he is not about to get complacent, as he is going full speed ahead with his career.

He is currently getting ready to release his debut album, which is slated to be released later this year. It will feature another Junior Byles classic titled a Place Called Africa along with Hooligans which was originally done by the Paragons, and Alton Ellis' Breaking Up.

"Right now I'm working on my album, it's almost finished, and it's going to feature a number of popular Jamaican classics that I love including, A Place Called Africa and Breaking Up. It will also have originals on it too. I'm really putting a lot of work into it , because I want it to be very special."
