WHERE IS THE LOGIC?

Where is the logic? On one hand, our Government is asking public sector workers to accept a wage freeze for what, six years, but each year they keep taking more and more from their frozen wages that is already being eroded by a rapidly weakening dollar.

Given the circumstances, people will have far less to spend as everything else is going up and their wages are at a standstill. That means they won't be able to spend as much as they used to. Their disposable income dries up and they will be trying as much as possible to save every dollar they can.

I don't know about you, but I don't see how an economy can grow when nobody is spending because they have no money to spend. I don't know about you, but this cannot possibly be the way to grow an economy.

collect taxes

Where is the logic? A government is unable to collect taxes at an efficient rate, yet they keep imposing those taxes without fixing the mechanism that allows them to collect.

Where is the logic? You, as government, are asking everyone else in the country to make sacrifices, in this case a very large one. They are taking our money on several fronts - the National Debt Exchange and higher taxes on everything else. They are even taking more of your lottery winnings, for God's sake! Yet, with all of the pain they have imposed on us, we don't hear or see anything being done to reduce the size of Government. I remember not so long ago when the now opposition was in power, the woman who is now prime minister described the size of the Cabinet then as a whatnot. But now hers is bigger, much bigger.

remain silent

Where is the logic? The people of a country are being taxed to death by both political parties during their respective turns in office, but they only complain about the draconian taxes when the party they oppose is in power and they remain silent when their party rules. But not only do they remain silent, they go out of their way to justify 'their' party's actions.

Where is the logic? A government says it wants to attract investors but does very little to reduce bureaucracy and crime, two of the biggest deterrents to foreign investments. Especially since every time they talk about future plans, which are nothing but empty words because they really have no idea what their words mean, the thing they mention most is foreign direct investments.

Where is the logic? Citizens of a country who have been under the gun for their entire lives because of poor, inept, corrupt and visionless leadership, do nothing to effect change despite examples presented to them every day about what is happening elsewhere in the world.

Where is the logic? A columnist writing about things that people need to do to turn their fortunes around in a country where most of the people don't read.

Here is the logic. Finding a new place for you and your family to live when you see where everything in the country you call home is going to hell in a hand-basket and fellow citizens are either too dumb, too scared, or too indifferent to want to make a difference.
