8 shot last night

A three-year-old was among eight people shot and injured in Nannyville Gardens, St Andrew, last night.

Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that a group of men entered the community and made their way to a section called Moore Town Way, where the shooting took place.

Residents said the incident occured about 8:45. It is understood that the injured were rushed to the hospital by police who were quick on the scene. Two of the injured were listed as serious while the others were considered stable.

When THE WEEKEND STAR visited he scene, bloodstains were spotted as well as several pairs of footwear seemingly left behind. A group of people who were near the scene apparently playing board games also had to run for cover.

"Dem send threat say dem ago kill har and her pickney", screamed a female resident in reference to the attack. "Dem can't mek we tun ya so ina ghost town. Dem deh all Half-Way Tree bout dem a look out fi people who dem can't catch down here. A good over evil!"

Unconfirmed reports said the dispute stemmed from differences surrounding event dates. Police could not offer a motive.

A male resident said: "Right now, we nuh want the bad vibes ina di place because a lot of decent people living in here. A niceness we want ina the community so that things can keep and we enjoy ourselves. No crime and violence."
