Chad Bryan, Star Writer

State Troopers in Western New York have arrested two Jamaican men after they were caught with 450 pounds of marijuana, according to an article posted on www.nypost.com.

According to the article, a state police drug task force arrested 37-year-old Calvin Bennett from Bronx and 29-year-old Roderick Johnson of Rochester last Thursday in the rural Orleans County of Clarendon, 20 miles west of Rochester.

The state troopers have reported that both men are Jamaicans and have been charged with criminal possession of marijuana. They remain in county jail on $200,000 bail. It has yet to be determined whether the men had lawyers, continued the post.

Police say the drugs were stored in a container that held office furniture and nine cardboard boxes. Each cardboard box is reported to have contained 50-pound bales of marijuana, the post concludes.

Elsewhere, in Phoenix, Arizona, a Jamaican who was in police custody, escaped while being held at a medical facility. The man, said to be called Wadsworth Jennings, was taken to the facility for an undisclosed illness but escaped when the officer guarding him went to use the restroom.

Police report that Jennings was arrested recently on marijuana related charges, and was found to be using approximately 16 aliases, given to confuse police and prosecutors.
