A mother is currently mourning the loss of her eldest son after she claims he was abandoned at a police station and left to die following an asthma attack. Marie Prichard, who was featured in THE STAR in late December seeking financial assistance for her family of eight, told THE WEEKEND STAR the circumstances surrounding her son's untimely death. Prichard told THE WEEKEND STAR that on Thursday of last week, her son and his father were at home when he began complaining about chest pains. She said as a precautionary measure his father decided to take him to the hospital since he was troubled with asthma. But according to Prichard, things started to go awry when, "He and his father went on a bus - while going to the hospital he started to 'rail up'." Prichard said to her horror "The driver of the bus when he saw my son in a fits, he said that him don't want him to die in his bus, so he detoured and dropped him off at the Runaway Bay Police Station and left them there." She continued: "His father only has one hand; when he was trying to take him out of the bus, he was calling for help and nobody helped, he told me that the police were just there looking and not helping." Prichard said it is alleged that her son died while at the police station. When THE WEEKEND STAR contacted the Runaway Bay police, they refuted these claims. An officer told THE WEEKEND STAR: "I am not sure if the young man died here or on his way to the hospital, but efforts were made by the police to take him to the St Ann's Bay Hospital in a service vehicle." Prichard told THE WEEKEND STAR that her son would have celebrated his 20th birthday last Sunday. |
