On Tuesday, February 26 when THE STAR Awards makes its grand return, there will be one major drink company standing beside us.

Red Label Wine, one of the brands in the Wray & Nephew line of products, will not only be the official sponsors of three of the awards to be given out that night, but will also be organising the function along with THE STAR.

This relationship was forged because of the brand's strong involvement with Jamaican music.

Matthew Samuda, brand manager, said, 'Red Label Wine is proud to be associated with the promotion of the Jamaican music and culture. As an indigenous Jamaican brand, much like our music, we believe in not just 'turning on the thrills', but supporting those who work hard to make the parties go on."

On February 26, 19 awards will be handed out to some of the persons who worked hard last year in the local music industry. Among the winners announced, so far, are Damian Marley, Bounty Killer, Chronixx, Romain Virgo and Konshens.

On the night, the three categories - Album of the year, Performer of the year and Dancehall achievement award - sponsored by Red Label Wine, will be announced.

"It is a distinct pleasure to sponsor three of the top honours at The STAR Awards in recognition of our shared commitment to the development of Jamaican music and culture," Samuda said.

He further stated that Red Label Wine congratulates all nominees and winners and encourages all honourees to continue their good work in the spirit of excellence.

The Star Awards will be held at The Gleaner's Roof Garden and will be broadcast live on www.jamaica-star.com and www.jamaica-gleaner.com.
