POPULAR TRAINER, SON FIGHT AT TRACK |

A physical altercation between a veteran horse trainer and his son was a hot topic at Caymanas Park recently that have had tongues wagging since the Ash Wednesday's Holiday race-card feature THE STAR has learnt. Information reaching THE STAR is that the well-known horse trainer and his equally qualified son reportedly exchanged blows approximately two hours before the first race on the cards. Allegations are that the young man landed his father several blows that sent him tumbling to the floor. However, THE STAR also gathered that the father firstly provoked his son, after he first slapped him across the face. THE STAR understands the incident took place at Caymanas Park and occurred during a game of dominoes, which eventually ended prematurely. An eyewitness said, "Yes man, a big big ting over track all right now people still can't believe what happened, people still a talk bout it the following race day, and all now di bwoy deal wid him father a way, mi nah lie." The eyewitness continued, "Di son a big man and mi and you done know no man nah tek embarrassment cause a di father really first overreact and go box di man, even though is him son." THE STAR was told that the father was no match for his son, who is much stronger and of a bigger built. "The father couldn't even manage him son. If it had went on any longer than it did, it would have been probably tragedy," said another individual who claimed to be an innocent bystander. Our news team was told that the incident has drawn the ire of several folks who know both individuals. When THE STAR made checks throughout the St Catherine South Police Division, the news team was told that no official report of the incident was made. An official at Caymanas Track Limited, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident and told THE STAR, "Though the incident is embarrassing, it is a domestic issue and no police was involved ... everyone just have to stay aside and let the grown men iron things out." |
