Castle Red started this year's season of Magnum Kings and Queens with a bang, but the contestants were not as impressive in their last showing.

The event that was held at D'Entrance, Constant Spring Road in St Andrew, last week, kicked off with models wearing outfits from Alter Ego Fashion Oasis. Charlene Skylar was then chosen ahead of Glama when they faced off. She was described by judge Professor Nuts as "lyrically content" when she did her second stint on stage.

Despite poor responses in the past, Zip Head and Elegance got 'forwards' when they went up against Buck 1, who eventually defeated them. However, in his second performance, he was less than impressive.

"Buck 1 neva buck nobody wid da one deh I swear. Dem lyrics deh weh yuh come wid a some ABC lyrics," judge Skatta said.

With a solid message and pencils and rubbers forming part of her hairstyle, Suspense did well, but was asked to work on her breathing. Jah Bouks was lauded for his song, voice and presence.

Sexy Kayda was then introduced to the audience as Miss Kitty's wild card. After her performance, Miss Kitty lamented that she had a hard task to choose female contestants for the show because a significant number of them were weak.

more flair

While Movac's melody and voice were on point, the judges said he needs more flair in his performance. Minori, on the other hand, had everything. Singing No More Worries, she moved the audience with her flow, melody and message.

"You are performing as if you are seasoned. You engaged everybody and your melody is so beautiful. Job well done, real top woman a road," Miss Kitty said.

A new addition to the show was Check. He had the audience laughing about his theatrics long before he even started his song and later entertained them with his dancing.

"Regardless of weh him a seh, him come wid entertainment value that is needed in the business," Skatta said, while guest judge Nuffy got the audience to shout 'check' in unison.

Sassy Silva came with an old school flavour and engaged the audience with the strong message. She was lauded for her efforts. However, Turbo J wined as he did a slower number with sexually suggestive lyrics.

"I am very happy that I inspire the men to treat women right. The song bad. You are a multifaceted performer. Your performance was excellent," Miss Kitty said.

The show ended with reggae singer Iba Mahr, who sang Will I Wait.
