Patrons enjoying the vibe at the New Mas Camp on Friday, February 15, when Bacchanal Jamaica kicked off the 2013 Carnival Season. - Winston Sill Set to invade Mas Camp tonight Tonight, (February 22), Bacchanal Fridays becomes Fantastic Fridays with the powerhouse invasion of Trinidad's multi-talented deejay, Dawg E. Slaughter of X-Caliber International Disco. Also known as Mr Slaughter, this deejay is easily recognised by his gritty voice and undeniable mixing skills. Though born into a musical family, the deejay, born Derek Pereira in 1976, had to work hard to prove himself in a notoriously difficult and close-knit industry. From playing as a member of the Black Syndicate and Sel Construction sound systems, to increasing his popularity as a presenter on his home country's radio station, 96.1FM, to creating his own internationally respected disco, Slaughter has quieted naysayers and shown that he is, indeed, multifaceted. Dawg E. Slaughter has established himself as a successful deejay, songwriter, producer and artiste. Along with creating some of soca's most memorable rhythms, including 2004's 'Trample', he is responsible for memorable soca anthems including Tic Toc, Carnival I Love You and Spread the Love. With this impressive resume, Dawg E. Slaughter is set to blast soca fans away with his unmistakable voice and unique soca mixes alongside Jamaica's own DJ Smoke.
