Three months into its comeback, the MoBay Nite Out Street Festival will feature special performances by entertainers Khago and Hezron tonight at the Old Hospital Park on Gloucester 'Hip Strip' Avenue. The initiative, spearheaded by the St James Parish Council, had its rebirth in December 2012, and is already showing promise of its potential to revive the City's appeal to locals and visitors. The event coordinates entertainment activities that span the entire Hip Strip, with the main stage at the Old Hospital Park. Chairman of the MoBay Nite Out and the St James Parish Council Civic and Community Affairs committees, Councillor Suzette Brown is urging the public to attend the festival and experience the thrill of entertainment activities. "I want everyone to come out and join in the good vibes. I feel confident that the MoBay Nite Out event will grow to achieve its intended purpose to revive the city's entertainment sector," said Councillor Brown. "The MoBay Nite Out Committee is keen on improving commerce as well as the social and recreational offerings." The committee is made up of officers from the parish council and members of the Montego Bay business community. The turntables at the Old Hospital Park, will be controlled by Montego Bay-based disc jockey Crazy Neil. The Digicel Music Truck will be stationed in the Pork Pit area; there will be a jazz band near Margaritaville; a steel pan band at Doctor's Cave, and music at Cornwall Beach and the Donway Entertainment Complex. During the event which runs from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., traffic will be restricted to a single lane along the 'Hip Strip', from the direction of the Summit Police Station going towards Aquasol Beach. Parking will be available at the Dump-Up Beach Park. The police are advising that drop-offs will only be allowed near Cornwall Beach, Coral Cliff Gaming Lounge, and Golden Dynasty Chinese Restaurant. |
